Fraud Protection

Your Visa Check Card is protected 24 hours a day, seven days a week by a fraud detection program. If the system identifies a potentially fraudulent debit card transaction, they will reach out to you via the contact information that we have on file. Your participation in responding to the call is critical to prevent potential risk and also to avoid restrictions from being placed on your card.

When the Fraud Protection Center reaches out to you, the automated service will ask a few questions to verify your identity. It will then ask you to verify your recent card activity.

It is extremely important that we have your current contact information on file in case we suspect fraudulent activity being done on your Visa Check Card. To update your contact information, please stop in at a branch or contact us at (402) 826-2144.

VISA Account Updater

When you use your City Bank & Trust VISA Check Card for recurring payments, Visa will automatically update your card information through the Visa Account Updater (VAU) service whenever your card information changes. All Visa credit and debit card holders enjoy this benefit; no enrollment or activation is required.

Here’s how VAU works:

When your card’s expiration date or card number changes (if the original card is lost/stolen or reissued due to closure), VISA will communicate your new card information directly to participating merchants you have authorized to charge your card. VAU only applies to recurring Visa debit and credit card payments, and updates are only sent to qualified participating merchants.

VAU is designed to help prevent interruption of your recurring payments and possible service
Disruptions when your card information changes. Because not all merchants subscribe to VAU, we recommend that you notify each merchant of your new check card number and/or expiration date to ensure your payments continue uninterrupted.

VAU is provided as a free benefit to Visa card holders. If at any time you wish to opt out of VAU or if you have questions regarding the service, please contact City Bank & Trust Co at (402) 826-2144.
